Founded in 1636 the Crimson’s exploits on the playing field date back to the earliest days of America. A contest against Montreal’s McGill University in 1874 was Harvard’s first foot ball foray. The Crimson were constantly atop the Ivy standings in the ‘20s ‘30s and ‘40s winning seven national football championships along the way. The 1937 junior varsity team featured one John F. Kennedy whose back injury the following season ended his football career. Actor Tommy Lee Jones was a Crimson foot ball standout in 1968. The legendary Harvard Stadium celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2003.
